IMUSTMUSTPOSTABOUTTODAYYYY.CIP. Went to Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital after school today. Singing We Are The World and 爱与希望 in class together before school ended at 1.30 really put me in a good mood! HEH. Class spirit! Cool eh. xD Anyway, by the time everyone changed into PE shirt (i know-.- but maybe black class tee really isn't a good thing to wear to a hospital so yea.), there was no time for lunch. Aw. The guys attempted the Houdini Act in class again. Aiyo. ;D Went down to the foyer to assemble. Saw ODAC'ians, going for rockclimbing, ohmygod. So sorryyyy to SENIORS + JUNIORS + BATCHMATES + MUNSTER for not being able to go. ROCKCLIMBINGGGGGG. Hope y'all had fun, yea. But I was damn glad I didn't choose to skip CIP with 209 though, even if that meant having to miss the first and last ODAC training with the sec4s. Which I'm reallyreally guilty of! =/ But. Today's CIP was really cooooool. So worth going. I learnt life lessons there! Moving on. I thought we were gonna perform an opening act for the patients on stage or something. SING!.. Lalala. But in the end, we were just split up into groups according to our respective roles. Mahjong. ;D Went to Ward 3A, where we were initially instructed to go by the nurse. Then the nurses there said that the patients couldn't move much so they couldn't play. Aw. So we moved to Ward 5, where the people in charge of chess were at. Asked around for patients who were capable of playing, then we told the nurses to put the only patient in the whole ward on a wheelchair so that he could play with us. The rest were either incapable of talking or moving, or really had no idea how to play and what the hell we were talking about, cos they were all from different dialect groups. After setting up the table, chairs and the tiles, the old man was wheeled to one side of the mahjong table. He looked at all of us, and the first thing that came out of his mouth was: "你们为什么要跟快要死的老人玩这个?" At first, we were no doubt shocked by his question and especially after hearing his solemn tone. We struggled to find an answer, but then the nurses slapped him lightly on the back playfully. Then. He broke into a wide smile. Ohmygod. We were just so damn relieved, we just laughed. Played a few rounds, taking turns. Bent the rules a bit like whenever the uncle made a small mistake, we just closed one eye and let him. Kept praising him too. Make people happy, you see. ;D Played one round, then watched the rest play. Then Lionel told me to go around talking to the rest of the patients since we were free anyway. So Shilei and I walked, walked.. then finally we stopped at one of the beds which the patient in it was sitting up. I seriously didn't know what to say, so I just kept quiet while Shilei did most of the talking. The old man spoke Hokkien. Though I knew how to speak that dialect, I didn't really open my mouth after my "Hi uncle!". Kinda scared, and also partly cos I didn't even have an idea on what to say. Afterward, Kelly and Jo came over and joined into the conversation. And the old uncle was talking about his job as a sailor when he was younger. Damn sad. Plus I noticed he was wearing diapers. Don't laugh, it's not funny. I'm just sayin. After we thanked him, we decided to look for more patients to talk too. In the end, we chose the charming one right at the very end of the ward. Kept asking us for presents, LOL! ;D Ah. The rest started a conversation with him again, then Shenwen and the rest joined us soon after. Kept quiet this time round too, just listened. As questions kept being prompted by us nice people, the answers and the sadness that came with it just kept flowing out. We asked if he had kids, he said yea, 3. Then he added that his 2nd son comes to visit him often, and pays for his hospital bills too. $1000 a month, and he's already been there for 2. We asked if he would like to go out for a walk. He said that he couldn't run. Though we kept emphasizing that we were gonna bring him out on a wheelchair so he didn't really have to move. But then he kept repeating over and over, that he couldn't even walk, or move. Kept touching his legs. Ohmygod. Then we realized, that maybe he was being literal and that his legs were paralysed or something, and not something else as lame as the nurse not allowing him to go out for walks. Ah. So sad. Almost teared up. Kelly volunteered Shenwen to sing a song to make the uncle happy. So Shenwen went to drag Nick to where we were, cos he had manymany old Chinese songs in his phone. Randomly picked a song. 朋友. But the uncle didn't know the song. Instead, he picked up the phone and started admiring it, flipping the top open. When he noticed the dialpad, he tried to press the numbers. We asked what he was doing, he said that he wanted to call his grandson. Hai. I saw him struggling with the phone, then I really tabuleh-tahan. (LIONEL. xD ) Cried a bit. Suresh tried to comfort. Then okay le. LOL. When I came back, he had already finished the call. Then they were trying to get permission to put him on a wheelchair to bring him out for some air. Nurses didn't allow, whatthehell. Just cos we weren't his kin. Super sad can. Afterward, we went back to the mahjong table there, and saw the uncle looking extremely sian already. Played so many rounds, no wonder. OH. And when we asked him if he wanted to play with us after Hazel and gang were done, his face instantly lit up. Like this. :| ---> :D Serious! Ask Alicia. xD Haha. But he claimed that he was too tired to continue in the end so we played with another patient instead, from a different ward. Looks kinda fierce, and doesn't speak much of Hokkien and Chinese so couldn't really communicate with him. Meanwhile, the first patient we played mahjong with and the charming one watched TV near us. Played 2 rounds, then had to go. Aw. Had a really great time with them... Then the first guy also kept telling us to stay healthy, do more exercise, etc. And the charming one's son really did come. Now I know that Lionel is also a sensitive guy.. LOL. It's okay man! (: And that Nick is really very smelly after sweating like whoa._____. No offense. ;D Took class photo, then went back to school. I will never forget today's CIP.. as long as this post is still in my blog archives. ;D ... Today. Wednesdays are boring. Were made to stay in the parade square for one whole hour. Sec3s MYE-.- Stupid. Morning assembly is the worst way to start a school day. After that, Chem. Didn't fail though. ;D But I bet my Science overall is gonna be pulled down by IS anyway. Recess. Shilei kept pangsehing me to chase after people with food, etc. Food I chose wasn't nice anyway. IS. Same old, same old. Free period to do IS proj = slacking session. Mr Wee just escapes from class everytime we get too noisy. But who cares? :D We even rehearsed today's supposed singing performance using his period, with him still in class. Obviously, noone really takes IS seriously. Art. Suresh was gone for some while. Wasn't in a good mood (sooo FElicia sia, Alicia! xD ) so just kept quiet. Ryan was trying (?) to tell me a joke, trick me or something. PS Rye. Caught me at a bad mood. Was left alone for most of art. Even after Suresh was back. Ms Ng being in charge isn't really good. Drew my cultural objects and got some nice comments. Thanks people! ;D Chinese. Had to be in our Chinese composition group work thing. Me, Lionel, Austin, Chelsea, Elaine. Got kinda pissed off about that though I cheered up a bit afterward. Thanks Dylan, Lionel, Nick!... For joking around me. I was stuck in between the 2 groups, see. ;D Math. Had a small test. Easy peasy. Rehearsed the singing. YAY, I seriously love the way the class sounds when singing together! Then CIP! ... Okay that's it with this post. I still have loads to post about uh! Shenwen's bday celebration, yesterday's tea thing, blablablaa. Next time! =D |
Goodbye.
